What are trainers doing wrong when trying to monetize their workouts online?

1- Semi-finished platforms for rent.

Often times, professionals including trainers, think that business is only related to a product and forget all the work behind the process. Therefore, if you are going to sell flowers in a shop, it is not enough to simply buy the flowers. First, you should find a room for rent. The environment must be located in a populated area or shopping mall in order to open a store where the buyers are located. After finding the store, you should take care to decorate it in the best way possible. You need to find a business name that also needs a logo. You should also think of some graphics that will be part of your brand and differentiate yourself. You have to open an account on social media, post every day, write beautifully, find finance but also learn how you can control the finances. To pay taxes, insurance, municipal and central taxes. You have to find out how the flowers will be transported to the customer, who will wash the windows of the shop, who will clean it, who will help you to stay open 16 hours a day and much, much more. Oh, I forgot, you have to buy the flowers too. So the number one solution of coaches is the problem itself. Getting an online app does not solve business problems later. What you need is to focus on creating a fitness method that will give results to your clients and not on the problems that the business has. For this reason, most of the trainers do not last on these platforms for a long time, the ones that use these platforms often case end up losing money, coming to the conclusion that "online training cannot be sold". However, many established brands manage to generate hundreds of millions in profit every year.

2- Build an application from the ground up.

This is probably the worst idea, which has caused many trainers not only to not succeed but to lose tens of thousands several times and hundreds of thousands of dollars trying this to this day.

Trainers, caught up in the excitement of the digital world, take it upon themselves to create something from scratch, thinking that all users will appear there from scratch to do their workouts. It is enough that the workouts are ok and that's all.

They start and sit down with a designer and work intensively for 2 months to create something with their tastes. Then they go to a development company where they work with them for at least another 12 months.

The end? A bag of money spent that will not compete with other established platforms or brands.

At the end of the day, in order to have a good app and product , only the knowledge of the coach is not enough, on the other side must also be the right international level. It's the same thing as putting Cristiano Ronaldo in the game to play with a defender who plays every Sunday with "boys" in the neighborhood. He will grind it, slaughter it. Even if you find "this” Cristiano Ronaldo, again this method does not solve the problems of the semi-finished platform.

3- Using circumstantial methods or platforms not suitable for fitness.

This is the part where coaches get creative. Due to the lack of knowledge of a suitable free platform, they have used popular platforms such as Instagram to sell their workouts.
